Leo XIV cancels interreligious Assisi meeting. Pope Leo XIV will not travel to Assisi on October 27 for the peace meeting with representatives of various religions. The meeting was intended to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the syncretistic Assisi gathering convened by John Paul II in 1986. It seems that Leo XIV wants to avoid another scandal. Er habe sich in den vergangenen Monaten eingehend mit dem Initiativbegehren und mit Fragen des Schwangerschaftsabbruchs auseinandergesetzt und zahlreiche Gespräche zum Thema geführt, heisst es in der Mitteilung. Cardinal Koovakad attended Sikh gathering opened with pagan devotional hymns.
